Family Support.
Supporting you and your youth as the experts of their sexual development.
*Please see the sex education service tab for more information about ways I can provide sex education to your child or youth group as well as ways I can support you in providing sex education to your child yourself!
I know that all parents have the desire and capacity to love and support their children unconditionally. I know that they are the expert of their relationship with their child and that they have their child’s best interest in mind. I also know that change can be difficult, especially if we do not feel that we have the necessary tools or knowledge to navigate changes that can trigger difficult feelings like fear. Allow me to use my years of experience working with youth and being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community to help your child with any of the following and more:
Safely navigating community
Self reflection and knowing one’s self
Peers and managing conflict
Coming out
Embodying your true self
Inclusive and medically relevant sex education and harm reduction
Advocating for yourself
Building self worth and unlearning shame
And let’s not forget that YOU will need support through your child’s development as well, I would be thrilled to work in partnership with you to offer the following:
Managing your fears and concerns about safety
How to support your child
Helping you in YOUR coming out process
Advocating for your child
Honoring your feelings and managing changing expectations
Talking to your child about sex and relationships
Finding support for yourself
Finding resources and education
Building skills as an LGBTQIA+ ally
Building skills and confidence for talking about difficult subjects
How to handle making mistakes
I also sometimes offer groups for youth or their parents:
[some groups are still in the development process, I would be happy to work with you or your community to customize it to your exact needs]
Coming out (youth group): newly queer and finding community.
My child is LGBTQ.
Talking to young people about sex.
Media literacy (for youth): what are the movies (and porn) telling you and how to craft your own definition of healthy relationships.
Sexual Violence Prevention Education: How to create safe communities, how to support survivors and how to recognize unhealthy relationships.
